Obit, courtesy of Ron Reid: "The McKean Democrat, March 18, 1915, Page 1. Death of P.E. Abbey. P.E. Abbey died at his home in this borough at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday morning,
after an illness extending over a period of more than seven years, aged nearly 66 years. Seven years ago last fall Mr. Abbey was stricken with paralysis, since which
time he has been an invalid, and while he has been able to get about town during the most of the time since he was stricken, and was down town as late as Monday apparently as well as usual, the fatal attack came on early Tuesday
morning, and before Dr. Hamilton could get to the bed side Mr. Abbey had passed away.
P.E. Abbey, was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. N.W. Abbey, and was born in this borough June 15, 1859. He spent virtually all of his life in Smethport, and was known to all of the citizens of this town as a hard worker and an honest man, and his sudden and unexpected passing away came as a shock to his relatives and friends. Mr. Abbey is survived by his widow and the following children: Earl, Hazel V. and Kenton C. Abbey, all residing at home. The funeral is being held at the M.E. church this Thursday afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock. The remains will be laid at rest in Rose Hill cemetery."
