WASHINGTON — Noble Frank Billings, 91, of Washington, died at 6:40 p.m. Saturday at Washington Nursing Center. Born Sept. 21, 1918, in Cabot, Ark., he was the son of Mel and Josie (Allison) Billings. He attended Jefferson School in Washington and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe during the invasion of Italy and several other battles. He received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in service. He worked for the B and O Railroad for many years and was a member of First Christian Church and Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Ada (Brochin) Billings, whom he married Jan. 22, 1943; a daughter Barbara Billings of Washington; sons and daughter-in-law, David and Gail Billings of Lafayette, and Mark Billings of North Vernon; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Lula Sullivan of Washington, Emma Jane Lynch of Louisville, and Hazel Wood of New Albany; and a brother, David Billings of Upland, Calif. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jess Billings, Raymond Billings, Howard Billings, Robert Billings, Merle and Earl Billings, and Mary Alexander. The closed casket funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, with Rev. Steve Dayton and Jeff Frederick officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion and V.F.W.
