Newcomb, Joan Leslie Loving mother, daughter, and grandmother, departed this life June 2, 2010 in Garland, TX. She was born September 22, 1947 in Amarillo, TX. Joan was devoted to caring for others, and was happiest when she was helping as many people as she could. Joan was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, TX. After attending Brookhaven College, she left nursing to be with her children, but volunteered with Meals On Wheels, the Special Olympics, and was active in the PTA. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Kiger; and second father, Robert Wallace. Joan is survived by her mother, Hazel Wallace; sons, Jonathan and Tommy Newcomb; and grandson, Tyler. Visitation will be Monday, June 7, 2010, from 6-8 PM with the Rosary at 7 PM at Sparkman-Richardson Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at 10 AM at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo, TX June 9, 2010 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the American Cancer Society .
