They were the parents of twelve children, six sons and six daughters, Marie Johanna, Johann Wilhelm (August), Elsie Emma, John, Erna Martha Magdelene, William, Johann (John), Hertha Amanda, Emma Marguerite, Karl Friedrick (Willy), Minna and Heinrich Hans.
Widow Emma emigrated from Germany on 24 Nov 1920 on ship Manchuria from Hamburg to Spain to Azores to, New York, New York with 6 children: Erna Martha, Johann, Hertha Amanda, Emma Margaretha, Karl Fredrich and Heinrich Hans.
She then married John Henry Windhorst on July 11, 1926, in McClelland, Iowa.
She died on February 5, 1936, in Burr, Nebraska, at the age of 65, and was buried there.
