Hez was the son of Amos Halstead and America Jane (Keffer) Halstead. He was the husband of Catherine (Calvert) Halstead.

Hezekiah K. (Hez) Halstead, 71, a Spring Hill building contractor for 19 years, died yesterday morning in a South Charleston hospital. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial park. The body is at the home of Mrs A.R. Breeden, a daughter, in Spring Hill. Also surviving: daughters, Mrs. Fay Lowther of Spring Hill and Mrs. Charlotte Riddle and Mrs. Destel Clark of Charleston; 10 grandchildren.
