Gordon F. Anderson, formerly of West Toledo, died Wednesday, January 31, 2007, in Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center at the age of 92. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to Frederick and Lydia Anderson on October 25, 1914.

He grew up in Morenci, Michigan and graduated from Morenci High School in 1932. He met his future wife, Venita (Jones), in Morenci and they were married on June 26, 1937. They moved to Toledo and he was employed with the DeVilbiss Co. for several years. Mr. Anderson then founded and operated the Anderson Bottle Gas Co. before the sale of the business in 1951. He then pursued a career in real estate and worked with his friend, Harold Shipman, at Shipman Realty. He continued working in real estate for Neal Realty, Crosby Realty and Danberry Realty. It was then that he and George Kerscher formed River Glen Realty. He served as a trustee for the Toledo Board of Realtors and in 1977 was awarded Salesman of the Year. In 1978 he was Realtor of the Year with the Ohio Association of Realtors and retired from real estate in 1979.

His memberships included the Robinson Locke Lodge F. & A.M. No. 659, Old Newsboys and a 60 year member of Pilgrim Church. After retirement, he became involved with the Feed Your Neighbor program at Pilgrim Church and delivered Mobile Meals. His family thanks him for the wonderful example of his positive attitude, hard work ethic and life lessons of learn something new every day, accomplish something everyday, do a good deed everyday and a good practical joke now and then never hurts. Gordon never met a person whom he did not like.

Surviving are is wife of 69 years, Venita; son, Richard Anderson; daughter, Pamela (Henry) Herschel; granddaughter, Meredith (David) Hustwick; grandson, Craig Herschel and great-granddaughter, Madeline Anderson Hustwick.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 8, 2007 at the Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary, 3815 Sylvania Ave. (between Monroe St. & Talmadge Rd.) from 3-7 p.m. with Masonic services to begin at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the mortuary on Friday, February 9, 2007 at 11 a.m. officiated by Gordon Brown, Chaplain at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center. Gordon was one of Mr. Anderson's dedicated and caring nurse for 4 years. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci, Michigan. The family extends their gratitude to the Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center for their loving care and compassion shown to Gordon.
