Phillip A. Scarlett, 86, died at 6 P.M.
yesterday at his home on New
Asheville Highway, near the
Jefferson-Sevier County Line.
Funeral will be at 2:30 PM today
at Piney Church in Jefferson County.
The Reverend Fred Harbin, and the
Reverend Millard White will officiate.
Burial in Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Lonas Hickman, Haskel
Hickman, Herman Hickman, Dewey
Hickman, Raymond Snyder, and Oro
Sharp.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Linda
McFarland Scarlett; two sons, Carl
Scarlett of Memphis, John Scarlett
of Knoxville; seven daughters, Mrs.
Della Day of Strawberry Plains, Mrs.
W.M. Pollard and Mrs. O.H. Hickman,
New Market; Mrs. Matilda Schnier,
Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Laura Daley of
Knoxville, Mrs. Edward Gibson and
Miss Hazel Scarlett of Memphis. 27
grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.
The body will be removed from
brewers to the home early today.
In Life, Phillip was a farmer and a Jeweler. His First wife, Nancy Sellers, died in Childbirth in 1891. He married Lida McFarland in 1894. His Jewelry store was in Newcomb, Campbell Co., TN, and his farm was on the Asheville Highway.
