Jane T. W. Fransen

Mrs. Jane Tonks Welch Fransen, 87, 1805 Edison, was found dead at her home Saturday at 2:24 p.m. She was the widow of James P. Fransen, who died about four years ago.

Mrs. Fransen was born Jan. 8, 1860, in Salt Lake City, a daughter of William Henry and Martha Derricat Tonks. In 1000 (sic) she was married to Thomas Friday Welch, and they made their home in Morgan, until 1902, when Mr. Welch died. She was married to Mr. Fransen in 1915, and had lived in Salt Lake City since that time.

Mrs. Fransen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and was recently cited by Gov. Herbert B. Maw and the Centenniel committee for her work as a native pioneer.

She is survived by three sons and three daughters, Charles Josia Welch, Midvale; Jesse Evarard Welch, Los Angeles; Richard Garland Welch and Mrs. Beatrice Pitts, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Hattie Gibby, Roy, Weber county, and Mrs. Ethel Braught, Los Angeles; also 30 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Charles Tonks, Morgan.
