Amanda Melvina HARWELL, born 19 Oct 1820, was the daughter of William and Sarah CARUTHERS. In Marshall County, Tennessee 1838, Amanda and Wesley HARWELL were issued a marriage license the day before her 18th birthday. Three children were born to this couple, Mary M. (wife of Sgt. Henry Clay AYMETT), Sarah "Sallie" C. (wife of William J. ABERNATHY), and William Erskine HARWELL (casualty of the Battle of Chickamauga). Wesley would marry three more times and have three more children after Amanda passed away in 1844 Giles County, Tennessee at the young age of 24.
