DEATH CLAIMS RETIRED GROCER
Clarence Houze, 75, Resided at Letts

Clarence E. Houze, 75, retired Indianapolis grocer and resident of the Letts community for the past seven years, passed away at his home at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

A native of Switzerland county, he was the son of Peter and Mary Bodle Houze and was born on January 24, 1874.

His marriage to Jennie Dodd, of Switzerland county took place on April 10, 1902, after which the couple established a home in Indianapolis. For several years he was employed as a representative of the Western and Southern Insurance Company.

In 1911 he went into the grocery business in Indianapolis, continuing until his retirement in 1941, after which he and his wife located in Decatur county. For the past seven years he had been a resident of Letts.

Mr. Houze was a member of the Christian church at Center Square in Switzerland county.

The survivors are: The widow, two sons, Gerald Houze, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Roscoe Houze, of Letts, and a brother, A. B. Houze, of Bowling Green, Ky.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hostetler funeral home in Westport. The Rev. R.E. Shipley will officiate. Burial will be made in the Mt. Aerie church cemetery at Letts.

Friends may call at the residence in Letts from 11 a.m. Wednesday until 10 a.m. Thursday. The body will be taken to the funeral home, where friends may call.
