JOSHUA ELLIS, 81, DIES IN JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP. WAS UNION VETERAN
Joshua ELLIS, 81, one of the three survivors of Company F., Sixtieth
O.V.I., died at his home on the Paintersville Pike in Jefferson Township,
one mile North of Port William at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, from the effects of a
recent operation to remove a bullet he received in the Civil War in 1864.
Mr. ELLIS was the last surviving Civil War veteran of Port William.
His death reduces to two, the number of survivors of the Sixieth O.V.I.
They are Bailey DAVIS, Harveysburg, and Frank SMITH, Cleveland, O.
He was a member of Morris McMillan Post, G.A.R. of Wilmington, O., and
the Port William M.E. Church.
Mr. ELLIS was the son of the late Samuel ELLIS. his wife preceded him
in death in 1921.
Surviving are two children, Mrs. George LINKHART, who lived with him,
and Harley B. ELLIS, of near Port William, and two grandchildren, Miss
Nora LINKHART and Orville ELLIS.
Funeral services will be conducted at the home at 4 o'clock Tuesday
afternoon, in charge, the Rev. H. P. HUDNALL.
Burial will be made in the Port William Cemetery
