He worked and owned 2 or 3 service stations with Lloyd in Conway. He taught school for 1 year down on the river at Lolly.He worked for White Cross selling insurance, missile base in charge of red iron on all 18 sites, bookkeeper for Robbin Brown Manequin, bookkeeper for Town & Country Supply, Curtis Candy, and Fisher Lime & Cement where he was plant superintendent. On his way to work in Aug 1979 a 18 wheeler ran into the back of him on the interstate 40. Loyce was sandwiched between the driver's seat and the dashboard of his automobile which was struck three times by the tractor-trailer rig whose driver had fallen asleep.His vehicle was folded like an accordion. His injuries were immense and as a result it developed series of problems that ultimately tied him to a wheelchair.
