He was born in Camp, WV.

He joined the Civil War as a Corporal for the Union. Being a great horseman, he was in the calvery, Company E, 2nd Regt VA Calvary.

He was united in marriage by J.S. Hensley to Amanda A. Wilcox on February 9, 1865 in Doddridge County, WV. He was 24 and residing in Tyler County, she was 25 and residing in Doddridge County at the time of their marriage.

He became a farmer after the war.

Chris married Amanda on Feburary 9, 1865, he was 23 years old and 6'3" tall. This photo was a tin type and could be their wedding photo.

Christopher Columbus Davis on a horse which is being held by his son, Marion O. Davis. Christopher's great grandson believes this photo was taken in 1920, which is the year Christoper died.

The top says "Filii Veteranorum" which means "sons (or children) of veterans." This medal is a membership medal for the Sons of Veterans, USA which is the old name for the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, which is composed of descendants of Civil War Veterans who fought for the Union. The medal itself has SV in the center and their motto surrounds it; Gratia Dei Servantus, which is latin for "Preserved by the grace of God."
