The following obituary in Grand Rapids Press: "Charles Arthur Thayer, 69, died at his farm home north of Bellaire. Mr. Thayer was born in NY state and went to Lowell at the age of 4. He lived there until he was 16 when he moved with his parents , Mr. and Mrs. William Thayer, to Bellaire and settled on a farm in the Ball district. In 1889 he married Dollie Powell who died in 1912. In 1914 he married Cora Griswold. Surviving are eight children, Melvin of Williamsburg, Lloyd of Ann Arbor, Shirl of Belaire, Mrs. Walter Jarvie of Chelsea, Mrs. George Wilson and Mrs. James Bedell of Bellaire, Don of Ypsilanti and Dawn at home. Two brothers, Chet of Montana and E.L. Thayer of Washington; 13 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday at Matthew's funeral home. Burial in Lakeview Cemetery."
