Athens – Funeral Services for Betty Jo Douglas Lancaster, 72, of Athens, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with the Rev. Tom Bragdon officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.

She passed away on Monday, May 31, 2010 in Athens.

Betty was born Feb. 5, 1938 in Cryer Creek to Laurence and Gladys Arnett Douglas. She lived in this area for 47 years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Athens and Athens Pea Pickers.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Mike Lancaster; sisters, Marie Griffin and Dorothy Jean Ashford; and one brother, Kenneth (Buck) Douglas.

She is survived by: her husband, Dan Lancaster of Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Joe Butler of Athens; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Eddie McNeese of Kerens; four grandchildren, Jennifer Butler, Debi Shelton and husband Keith, Blake Butler, Haley Butler, and one great-grandchild, Hunter Butler.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
