"Victor Heintz, aged 64 years, died Saturday night after a long illness from a complication of diseases, at his home, 328 Dry Street. He was a native of Alsace-Lorraine and came to the United States 44 years ago. He spent five years in New Orleans and then located in Medora where he conducted a shoe store for 24 years. He had resided in Alton about fifteen years. He was well known and highly respected wherever known. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and four sons. Mrs. Y. G. [sic] Lott, one of the daughters, lives in Jackson, Miss., and one son, Frank Heintz, lives there also. The other children, all of whom reside in Alton, are Miss Marie and Messrs. Charles, Victor and Leo Heintz." (Alton Evening Telegraph, 11 May 1914)
