Mrs. Bessie Z. Haflich, 94, mother of O. D. Haflich, Bluffton and Decatur businessman, with whom she had resided for the past year, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at the Clinic Hospital in Bluffton. She had been ill four weeks.
A daughter of Jonathan and Amanda Staver-Bender, she was born in Rockcreek Township, Wells County, June 2, 1878. Her husband, Frank Haflich, died in 1956. Mrs. Haflich was a member of the Six Mile church.
Also surviving are another son, V.L. Vaugh Haflich of Geneva; two brothers, Lawrence Bender of Bluffton, and V.O. Bender of Bluffton route 1; three sisters, Mrs. John (Winnie) Graham and Mrs. Lilah Gray, both of Bluffton route 1, and Mrs. Vallie Renwick of White Pigeon, Mich.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Dale (Evelyn) Morrissey of Decatur, and Miss Marilyn Haflich of Washington, D.C., and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Thoma funeral home in Bluffton, with Rev. Max Andrew officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of the services.
