Mrs. Aycock was born in Winn Parish on August 14, 1911, and attended La. Normal College in Natchitoches where she received her teaching certificate. She was a school teacher in early adulthood and in her later life a talented florist. Mrs. Aycock was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a charter member of Grace United Methodist Church where she faithfully attended for 53 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and a member and past president of the Cosmos Club of Ruston.
Mrs. Aycock was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Seaborn Ray Aycock, Sr.
She is survived by her son, Ray Aycock and his wife Betsy of Flora, MS; her daughter, Jan Steinkamp and her husband Mike of Baton Rouge, LA; four grandchildren, Karen Spencer and her husband Chris of Baton Rouge LA, Kelly Malatesta and her husband Matt of The Woodlands, TX, Richard Purcell of Washington, D.C. and Susan Aycock of Houston, TX; three great grandchildren, Caroline Spencer of Baton Rouge, LA, MacKenzie and McKay Malatesta of The Woodlands, TX.
Pallbearers will be Richard Purcell, Chris Spencer, Matt Malatesta, Glynn Aycock, Don Aycock, Olen Aycock, Tommy Sanders and Jerry Sanders. Honorary pallbearer will be W. E. Sanders.
Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3401 Trenton Street North, Ruston, LA 71270. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 28, 2003 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Church.
