He was the father of the late W. C. Cookston of Winnfield.
Funeral services were held at the Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Sunday, December 25, at 10 a.m. Brother Hearn, pastor of the Jonesboro Baptist Church, conducted the funeral, and interment was in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Jimmie Cookston, Dr. Cavitt Cookston, John DeLaughter, James Taylor, G. W. DeLaughter, Roy P. Cookston, Gresham Shim, and Ray Jenkins.
He is survived by one son, Roy Cookston of Alexandria, a daughter, Mrs. G. W. DeLaughter of Sparkman, Ark., 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
