Mr. Morse, 76, died May 29, 2010, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on March 28, 1934, to Robert Preston Morse and Bertha Thedford Morse.
Mr. Morse was born and reared in Dentville. He met and married his wife while working at the factory. He was an accomplished, self-employed welder for most of his working days. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He had character and was one, too. He loved playing the guitar and singing for his grandchildren, working in the garden, catering and cooking for local benefits and organizations. Shrimp and catfish were his specialties. He filled his family's lives with memories to cherish of love and laughter for a lifetime.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, Thelma Morse and Virginia Morse; his brothers, Rufus Morse, Morton Morse, Lamar Morse and Benjamin Morse.
Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Lavada G. Morse, of Brookhaven; his sons, Mike Emfinger and wife Regina, of Perry, Fla., Roger Morse and wife Suzanne, of Smithdale, and Darrell Morse and wife Twyana, of Brookhaven; his daughters, Jenny Morse Gordon and Sandra K. Hall, both of Brookhaven; his sisters, Lucille Clark and husband Bill, of Vicksburg, and Evelyn Brown, of Great Falls, Mont.; and his 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
