Ralph L. Abrams of Indian Mills passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 97.

Born December 29, 1912 in Red Lion to the late Raymond and Lillian (Taylor) Abrams, Ralph was the oldest of 14 children and a lifelong resident of Indian Mills.

He was a man of few words, but when he spoke everyone listened. Ralph was a mentor to all who knew him.

Upon completion of Moorestown High School in 1930, he began farming with his family. In 1936, he met the love of his life, Rita, on the farm.

Ralph always was devoted to life. Those who knew him always said that he would not think twice about lending a helping hand or giving advice.

Ralph enjoyed farming, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Indian Mills Township Committee in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He was a member of the New Jersey Farm Bureau and the Co-Operative Growers Association. Ralph was a past member of Fritz Miller and Indian Mills Deer Clubs.

Ralph enjoyed his boat and going fishing with family and friends. He also enjoyed his winters in Florida.

Ralph was the owner of Ralph Abrams Farm and R&L Abrams Farm of Indian Mills. Ralph was known as the best Sweet Corn Grower in South Jersey.

Ralph leaves behind his loving wife of 72 years, Rita (Lombardo) Abrams, married January 9, 1938; daughter, Lillian Abrams Olt (Lew) of Indian Mills, daughter-in-law, Mabel (O'Neal) Abrams of Indian Mills; five grandchildren, Debra Abrams of Columbus, Karen Miloszar of Westampton, James Gaskill (Charlene) of Tabernacle, Brenda Gaskill Caloiaro (Scott) of Shamong, Lew R. Olt (Andrea), of Tabernacle; four great-grandchildren, Amanda Mercado, R.J. Williams, Ethan Gaskill and Nathan Caloiaro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his son, Lester Abrams; and his brothers and sisters, Everett, George, Frisco, Grace, John, Elizabeth, Elmer, Warren, Robert, Eugene, Maurice, Raymond and Charles.

Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday at Lechner Funeral Home, 24 N. Main St., Medford, where a viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Medford
