Born December 18, 1924, in Shrewsbury, Richard was the son of the late Carroll and Edna (Swartz) Attig.
He retired from PennDOT in 1989 after 33 years of service. He was a past President of AFSCME Union Chapter #13. Richard was an avid sportsman and Baltimore Orioles fan, and a collector of baseball cards. He was also a member of AARP and the NRA.
Surviving are his granddaughter, Lisa Chavez of Mechanicsburg, and her former husband, Jose Chavez of New Freedom; great-grandchildren, Chase and Cameron Attig Chavez; and dear companions, Hazel Frank and the late Joan Becker. He was predeceased by a son, Richard C. Attig, Jr.
Burial will be in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
