Long Illness Takes Mrs. R. Roberts
After an extended illness, Mrs. Rossie Roberts, wife of E. E, Roberts, of 1019 Superior, died Monday morning at Presbyterian hospital, where she had been confined for a week. She had been ailing for two years and also had bin in the hospital a year ago.
Mrs. Roberts, who was 76, had been a prominent figure in village church and social affairs for many years, coming to the comment with her husband in about 1890 from New Hampshire. Both Mr. and Mrs. Roberts joined in the activities of the community. She was a member of the Nineteenth Century club, which she attended regularly as long as she was able, and was one of the original officers of the Oak Park chapter, order of the Eastern Star, which she helped to organize. In her more active years she had been interested in golf, playing at the Oak Park Country club.
With her family, she had spent the summer months at their home at Silvar (sic?) Beach on White Lake, Mich., for many years, considering the lake resort a second home.
She leaves her husband, E. E. Roberts; a son, Elmer C. Roberts of Oak Park, a daughter, Margaret Roberts Dre, wife of the late Howard S. Drew, and a grandson, Howard Roberts Drew, now in the Army Air corps, stationed at Sioux Falls, S. D.
Services will take place at 2 today, Thursday, at the Osgood chapel.
—Oak Leaves (Oak Park IL), 6 May 1943, pg. 50

Father Ephraim Willey was a farmer in Vermont. After he died, Susan came to live with the Roberts family in Oak Park.
