Bill Dawson, 74, of Hayti, died Sept. 13, 1991 at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital. Born March 25, 1917 in Lanton, Mo., he was the son of Martin and Mona Stephens Dawson. He was a retired service man for Broadway Music Co. He was a World War II veteran and received a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal and two Bronze Stars. He was a deacon and member of First Baptist Church in Hayti.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Viola Gallaher Dawson of Hayti; Four brothers, Raymond and Edsel Dawson, both of Hayti, Bob Dawson of Iowa Park, Texas, and Neal Dawson of Memphis; And three sisters, Beatrice Land, Bernice Dawson and Myrl Cross, all of Hayti.
Services were Sept. 15 at 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, the Rev. Miles Zeigler officiating, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Deacons from First Baptist Church served as pallbearers.
