1. Drafted in York County October 24, 1862, mustered into federal service at York November 8 as a private Co. D, 166th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"), and honorably discharged with his company July 28, 1863, in York.
2. Enlisted and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 16, 1864, as a private with Co. I, 11th Pennsylvania Cavalry (108th Pa), and discharged by surgeon's certificate June 6, 1865.
He married Isabella Graybill and fathered Anna (b. @1867), Caroline (b. 03/09/72 - married a Rennoll), Emmedia (b. 10/18/72 - married George Caffield), Margaret K. (b. 01/06/78), and Walter H. (b. 01/02/92). In 1870-90, he lived in North Codorus Township, York County, but died in the York County almshouse from "arteriosclerosis" leading to "paralysis."
