Pardon Lawton was a son of Joseph and Mary (Almy / Alway) Lawton who were natives of Rhode Island. In 1824 Pardon and his parents moved with a six-ox team over the mountains to Washington County and settled in Cross Creek township.

Pardon married Tabitha Vincent in 1826 and had the following children:
Joseph K Lawton 1828-1907
Rosanna? Lawton
Mary Jane Lawton Cherry 1830-1917
Alexander Lawton 1832-1899
Sarah H Lawton Liggett 1833-1898
Peter Lawton 1835-1912
John C Lawton 1839-1877
James Craig Lawton 1844-1900
Thomas Vincent Lawton 1847-1919
Margaret Elizabeth Lawton 1850-1900

They may have had other children. :)

Pardon was an active politcian of the Whig party and a Prebyterian.
