After returning from the Civil War, Walter Crook (brother to General George Crook, became the postmaster, station agent, ware houseman and grain dealer at Tadmor, an old canal town located just east of Vandalia Ohio along the banks of the Great Miami River in Taylorsville MetroPark . The foundation of his house is still visible.
