Margaret Gasteiger - JOHNSON CITY
Margaret Erb Gasteiger, age 91, Johnson City, died Friday, May 28, 2010, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Gasteiger was a native of Johnson City and a daughter of the late Frank and Olive Hornsby Erb.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she was very active in church activities.
Mrs. Gasteiger was also a member of the Monday Club, Garden Club, her Bridge Club and former President of the Junior League.
She loved playing bridge, taking daily walks, playing golf and travel.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gasteiger was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Erb Cowell.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Harry L. Gasteiger; her son, Thomas Harrison Gasteiger and wife Marty, Johnson City; her daughters, Anne Hyder and Catherine Shannon, both of Johnson City; seven grandchildren, Harrison Gasteiger and wife Jessica, Joseph Gasteiger, Michael Exum Hyder, Margaret Anne Hyder, Casey Shannon and wife Christa and Catherine Shannon Simerly and husband Travis, all of Johnson City, Mark Gasteiger, Knoxville, Elizabeth Hyder Andrews and husband Shawn, Chicago; four great-grandchildren; son-in-law, James Shannon, Johnson City; nephew, Charles Cowell and wife Debbie, Johnson City; great-niece, Catherine Cowell Lee and husband Chris, Johnson City.
The graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 2:30 P.M. in Monte Vista Memorial Park, with the Reverend Joel Kavanaugh officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of Appalachian Funeral Home.
