A Soldier of The Revolutionary War. Enlisted in the Massachusetts Militia three times to fight in the Siege of Boston, later in the battles of New York City and White Plains and finally as a guard unit for the city of Springfield, MA.

William married Ruth Butler, born in July 1773, in Springfield, MA in 1792 and moved to Erie County, New York in 1810 with occupation of farmer. They had a son, Silas, born in 1792 and a daughter, Ruth, born in 1793. Silas married Lucy Warner and in about 1837 moved to Hinckley Township, Medina County, Ohio and raised a large family there. Daughter Ruth Snow's married name was Sumner, but her death and burial location have not been confirmed.

Both William and his wife Ruth, applied for and received military pensions for his service in the Rev. War. National Archive's pension records were obtained and are complete and extensive: file book 3, vol 4, pg. 13 # W-6138.

Ruth Butler Snow's death date and burial location has not been found. The last document we have is her military widow's pension acceptance dated May 1849. Ruth only received 3 payments of #33.13 with the last being September 1849. No reason was given for stopping payments in the Pension Payment Ledger found in the National Archives, but it's possible she died before her next payment was due in March 1850. She was living in Delaware County, Ohio when she applied for her pension.
