Rena May Soper, 92, of Bluffton passed away at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at Christian Care Retirement Community.Mrs. Soper had worked at the former Thoma Furniture store. She was a volunteer for the Wells County Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Popular Grove Home Economics Club and the Mental Health Association Board and a charter member of the Bluffton Business Women's Club. She attended First Reformed Church of Bluffton.Born on June 11, 1914, in Lancaster Township of Wells County, she was a daughter of Ora C. and Laura E. (Helms) Watters, and graduated in 1931 from Bluffton High School. Her marriage on Nov. 28, 1935, in Bluffton was to Benjamin Soper, who preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1996.Survivors include a son, O. Floyd Soper of Liberty Center; a daughter, Karen Sullivan of Union, Ky.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel.Services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Dr. B. Gene Bell officiating.Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Bluffton. Preferred memorials are to First Reformed Church of Bluffton.
