John Henry Abial Annis was born July 25, 1844 at Charlotte, ME, the son of Thomas and Hannah (Strickland) Annas, married July 7, 1868, Addie Nora Sprague at Calais, ME. He enlisted on August 2, 1862 for a three-year term and was mustered out on August 1, 1865. He was wounded by gunshot at the Battle of Fredericksburg. After the war he removed to Sanilac County, MI where he resided for many years before returning to Charlotte, ME. He died there on July 22, 1925 and is buried at Round Pond Cemetery, Charlotte.
