My uncle John David left this earth entirely too soon. The family story says he died of "sleeping sickness". What we would call encephalitis today.
He left behind his wife Amy. His beloved children-David, Linda, and Larry.

Funeral for John David Shepherd, 27, McCalla Rt. 1, will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Brown Service Bessemer Chapel.

The Revs. J.D. Hogan and C.L. Garrison will officiate. Burial in Cedar hill Cemetery.

Born in Powderly, Mr. Shepherd was a graduate of McAdory High School and at the time of his death was a welder for Pullman-Standard Car Manufacturing Co.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Amie Bryant Shepherd; two sons, John David Jr., Larry Charles: a daughter, Linda Shepherd: parents, Mr. and Mrs. h.H. Shepherd; four brothers, Henry, Herbert, Clyde, and William Shepherd; four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Aderholt, Mrs. Gwendolyn Acker, Mrs. Marion McMurray, and Miss Isabella Shepherd.
