WILLIAM DEWEESE was born in Indiana February 8, 1859, and came west twenty years
later. Soon after coming west he was converted and entered Willamette Academy.
Completing that course, he continued with college work and was graduated in
1887. He joined the Columbia River Conference the same year. In 1888 he was
married to Georgia Starnes. Many charges were served by this couple, including
pioneer posts. Lone Rock, Prineville, Garfield, Latah, Waitsburg, Walla Walla,
Athena, Goldendale, and Ellensburg were among them. Connell was the last charge
served. He retired in 1914 on account of his wife's health. For the past six
years the DeWeeses have made their home in Kirkland, Washington, where Mr.
DeWeese has continued his work by teaching a large and appreciative Bible class
in the Rose Hill Presbyterian Church. Death was the result of his being a run
down on the highway at Kirkland January 27th. He leaves his wife, his daughters
-- Mrs. Vera Bledsoe, of Seattle, Mrs. Blythe Vincent, of Clarkston, Pauline
Guptell, of Burlingame, California, and two sons, Wesley, of Kirkland, and
Joyce, of Ellensburg. Funeral services were held at Kirkland Tuesday, January
31st. N.M. Jones, HOO. Perry, Ulysses F. Hawk, Dr. Scafe and W.E. Callahan took
