He also served as postmaster in Graysville. After 1864 his occupation was in the real estate & insurance business in Sullivan until his death. He was a Democrat, and served as trustee of Hamilton Township. He was a charter member of the pioneer Blue Lodge, F. and A.M. of Sullivan. He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian Church in which he served as an elder for many years. Obituaries in New Albany Ledger Feb. 29, 1884 p.4 c.5.; Sullivan Democrat Feb.. 29, 1884 Mr. Stewart was long the Master of Masonic Lodge of this place, which Order will conduct the funeral services., The hour set for the funeral is 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
