John studied to be a priest at one time when he was young.
Exact year of immigration to America is unknown, but felt to be around 1865. He filed his intention to become a naturalied citizen on 3/21/1874 and became an American citizen on 10/17/1876 in the Superior Court of Buffalo, NY (document #399, Erie Co. Clerk's Office).
Census of 1880 show John & Mary living with her brother and other siblings. John and Mary have 4 children then.
Census of 1900 says they had 13 children and 9 were still alive. They were living at 246 Watson Street, Buffalo, NY.
John and many of his sons were butchers.
Census of 1910 says he immigration was 1870. He is retired now with 2 children still at home.
He died at home of chronic myocarditis, which he had trouble with for 2 years. He also developed pulmonary edema and died within 2 days of this.
I know of 10 of his 13 children:
John Jr., Mary, Albert, Jacob, Christopher (Christian), Wilhelmena (lena, Lane, Helena), William (Willy), Amelia (Emma),Adolph (Otto) and Flora L.
Thanks Jill:
STRICKEN BY HEART DISEASE.
John Klink,71 years old, of No. 246 Watson street, dropped dead in his home yesterday afternoon. Medical Examiner Danser was called and said death was due to heart disease.
