Abraham G. Schwenk Dead
The Perkiomen valley lost one of its foremost citizens on Saturday by t he death of Abraham G. Schwenk, of Schwenksville. Mr. Schwenk was 72 yea rs old. He was a man of great integrity, with a kind and charitable dispos ition, and spent his entire life in the village in which he was born. He w as beloved by all who knew him. His ancestors were among the early settle rs of this state. He was the son of Jacob Schwenk, who was the owner of t he greater part of the ground on which Schwenksville is built, and duri ng the lifetime of Abraham G. Schwenk the thriving village of Schwenksvil le was built up. He held many positions of confidence and trust at the ti me of his death. He was president of the Perkiomen & Sumneytown Turnpike c ompany and a director in the Line Lexington Fire Insurance company. His re cent years have been spent in partial retirement. He was married to Elizab eth, a daughter of Judge Stauffer, of Berks county, and she and one son, I rvin S. survive. A daughter, Mrs. J. Foster Barber, of Hazleton, died so me years ago. He leaves two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Elizabeth Z. Stras sburger, of Norristown; Mrs. Mary S. Geiger and John G. Schwenk, both of P hiladelphia. His funeral took place from his home on Wednesday morning a nd he was buried in the Schwenksville cemetery.
