Nelsonville - Clarence M (Speed) Bircher,77 0f 545 Back St. in Nelsonville, died Thursday night at Mount St. Mary Hospital after an extended illness. Born in Athens County, he was a son of the late William and Arnetta King Bircher,He was a retired coal miner.

Surviving are one brother Carl of Columbus and one sister, Mrs Maria Westfall of Logan.

His wife Sylvia died in 1960.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2p.m. at the Johnson Funeral home with the Rev. Richard Lupton officiating.Burial will be in Green Lawn cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m.saturday
