James Martinek died in his sleep at his home in Hillside, IL, but was pronounced at Loyola Hospital.

Martinek, suddenly, of Hillside, beloved husband of Beatrice (nee Sladek), dear father of Florence (Michael) Negles, George (Dorothy), Robert (Anita), and the late James, fond brother of Josephine (Charles) Choutka, the late Marie Baur, Lillian Svec and Rose Choutka, loving grandfather of 11, great-grandfather of one. Also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Member of the Milk Drivers Union Local No. 753, Third Degree member of Hughes Council No. 1005 K of C. St. Joseph Branch C.O. of F., St. Procopius College Alumni Assoc. Resting at Hennessy's Hillside-Berkeley Funeral Home, 5903 Oak Av., Berkeley, from Sunday 4 p.m. Funeral Tuesday 9:30 a.m. to St. Domitilla Church. Interment Queen of Heaven. In lieu of flowers mass offerings preferred.

James Martinek, 74, a resident of Hillside and formerly of Berwyn, died Saturday at Loyola Hospital after a short illness.

Services were held yesterday at Hennessy's Hillside-Berkley Funeral Home. Mass followed at St. Domitilla Church, Hillside. Interment was in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Mr. Martinek was a retired milk driver, and guard at International Harvester. He was a member of the Milk Drivers' Union Local 743, Hughes Knights of Columbus Council and St. Joseph Catholic Order of Foresters Branch, St. Procopius College Alumni Association.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; daughter, Mrs. Florence Negles; sons, George and Robert; one sister; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
