He was born on February 11, 1921, in Chciago, Il. the son of Fred and Letta Shaffer Brown. He Married Wilma Jean Lohmar in 1951, she preceded him in death in 1953.
Surviving are one daugher, Joyce (Andy) Capron of Chciago, Il; three granddaughers, marcy, Roxy and Rosy Capron all of chicago, and one sister Betty V. Brown of Galesburg, Il; and Cousins, Robert and Lester Potts of Williamsfield, Il. and their families. His parents his wife preceded him in death.
He was reared and educated in Watertown, South Dakota. His family moved back to Illinois in 1939 where he attended Illinois Valley Community College in LaSalle, Il. and the University of Illinois in Agronomics. He later received his Teaching Certificate from Bradley University. He served in the United States Navy from September 9 1942 to February 7, 1946 as an Aviation Electronic Technician's Mate First Class. He received the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, american Area Ribbon, Victory Ribbon and the Good conduct Medal. He was Stationed at San Francisco, California and the Fiji Islands in the south Pacific. He started farming in Williamsfield area in 1950. Retiring in 1998. during this time he worked as a plant manager for AMC in Walnut Grove and later in Williamsfield, Il, then taught an Inductrial arts at the Williamsfield High School, then was Ag Loan Manager at the Annaway State Bank in Annawan, Il., and then a Salesperson for Crow's Seed Company in Williamsfield, I.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Il. Burial will be in the Williamsfield Cemetery in Williamsfield, Il. with Military Rites conducted by the Williamsfield American Legion Post 371 of Williamsfield, Il. Memorials may be made to the Knox County YMCA or to the donors choice.
