Bernice C. Smith, our beloved "Nanny", 85, of Lewisetta, passed away April 17, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank A. Smith, and two sons, Larry and Edward Smith. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Jenkins; a son, Johnny and his wife, Barbara, of Lewisetta; two sisters, June Pfister and Reba Connors; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nehews.
Bernice Smith lived in Lewisetta most of her entire life, raising her four children with her husband Frank. There was nothing more she loved than pushing her skiff around the shoreline, catching soft crabs for dinner that night or having visitors drop by anytime. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking many meals for family and friends. She was loved by everyone and will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 20, 2009 at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Rainswood. Burial followed at Melrose United Methodist Church.
