Attended Richland Township School and graduated with the Class of 1953.

Served in the U.S. Army Reserve for six years. On December 6, 1964, Lawrence married Viola "Vi" Thorne at Otis Chapel Church, Richland, Iowa, near Orient.

Lawrence lived most of his life in the Adams County area. Lawrence farmed all of his life and raised livestock, mainly cattle. He also worked for S.W. Iowa Egg for about six years and worked at the John Deere Store in Creston for a few years. Lawrence was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends.

Lawrence served on the Adams County Extension for 4-H. He loved to collect toy tractors and loved cats and had many on the farm.

Preceding Lawrence in death were his Parents; Sister: Faye Webb; Brothers-in-Law: Carl Overholtzer and Walt Roberts; a Niece, a Nephew, and one Great-Niece.
