Mary Margaret Unrein, 73, Mead, died Sunday, June 2 at Longmont United Hospital. She was born May 24, 1918 to Peter and Elizabeth (Stegman) Kuhn in Loretta, Kan.

On Nov. 21, 1938 she married Cyril Unrein in Loretta. They moved to Berthoud from Hays, Kan. in 1952. They lived in the Longmont area until settling at Mead in Dec. 1955. She had been a cook at Mead Elementary School and at various area restaurants including the Silver Spur, JB Cafe and the Del Camino restaurant until her retirement in 1981. Her husband died Feb. 14, 1964.

She was a member of Guradian Angel Catholic Church in Mead and Women of the Moose Longmont Lodge No. 1548. She was a former member of the Eagles in Kansas.

Survivoros are seven daughters, Norma Jean Curley of Dorchester, Mass., Arlene Marie Bohall of Lakewood, Joyce Ann Bertrang of Valentine, Neb., Phyllis J. Unrein of Arvada, Joy "Gladys" McDonald and Mary Kay Unrein, both of Denver, and Carolyn Sue Cummins of Englewood; seven sons, Ernest Joseph of Fort Lupton, Cy Jr. of Longmont, Dennis James of Meeker, Ralph of Longmont, Mel and David Lee, both of Windsor, and Thomas of Grand Island, Neb.; two sisters, Josephine Herrman and Albertina Munsch, both of Hays; a brother, Marvin Kuhn of Wichita, Kan.; 23 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Betty Louise Unrein, a son, Darrell Francis, a sister, Minnie Mendenhall, and two brothers, Julius Kuhn and Bill Kuhn, are deceased.

Rosary prayers will be at 7 p.m. at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry, Longmont. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4th Ave. and Collyer St., Longmont. Internment will be in Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may vistit from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
