Obituary: Newark Advocate Oct 14, 1870
Died October 7, 1870 at her home in Union township, of Consumption, Miss Alla Farnsworth, aged 18 years.
On Saturday many sympathizing friends and neighbors assembled at the residence of her father, to pay the last tribute of love and respect to the form of Alla. Religious services were conducted by Rev. C. N. Hayford, in the presence of a large congregation. Alla was a sweet girl and many loved her.
"Dearest sister, thou hast left us!
Here thy loss we deeply feel;
But 'tis God that hath bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal,"

"Yet again we hope to meet thee
When the day of life is fled,
Then in heaven with joy to greet thee
Where no farewell tear is shed."

The Memorial Record of Licking County, Ohio published in 1894 states on page 251:"Alice O. died October 7, 1870 when only seventeen. With every prospect for a happy life, she was called from earth, and on her death bed implored her relatives to meet her in heaven, saying as she fell asleep, "I am going to Jesus."
