Lena (Funck) Ewy, daughter of David and Barbara Funck, was born Feb. 10, 1878 in Waldenburg, Germany, and departed this life at her home near Weatherford, Okla., March 13, 1954 at the age of 76 years, one month and three days.

In 1893 she, with her father, came from Germany to America to make her home at Clay Center, Kansas.

In March 1895 they moved to Garfield county, near Lucien, Okla., where they settled on a farm.

She was united in marriage to Gustave G. Ewy August 9, 1896 and in the spring of 1912 they with their family moved to their present farm, where they have lived since that time. To this union were born 12 children, all of whom are living except two daughters and one son. Her husband preceded her in death August 14, 1937.

On January 28, 1894, she was baptized and united with the Mennonite church of which she remained a faithful member to the end. The last few months she was unable to attend church services, due to her illness.

Surviving are nine children, Rudolf Ewy, Weatherford; Elsie Entz, Weatherford; Frieda Frey, Denver, Colo.; Katie Hodel, Newton, Kansas; Hilda Entz, Weatherford; Ella Flowers, Clinton; Alfred Ewy, Weatherford; Wilfed and Edwin Ewy, Weatherford.

She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, one having preceeded her in death, ten great-grandchildren, and six sisters: Martha Wiebe, Wichita, Kansas; Lucy Taves, Redland, Calif.; Frieda Brandt, Gotebo, Okla.; Mary Roberts, Newton, Kansas; Lydia Pond, Wichita, Kansas, and Ruth Funck, Wichita, Kansas.

Mrs. Ewy lived a useful, unselfish life devoted to her church and family for whom she made endless sacrifices. She was truly a Christian in every sense of the word. The greatness and sweetness of her character inspired and blessed those about her, yet she was humble and self-effacing in word and deed.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Bethel Mennonite church, Rev. Waldo Kaufman, minister of the church, and Rev. Henry Hege, pastor of the First Mennonite church of Geary, officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. John Fadenrecht, Cordell, sang, with Mrs. Waldo Kaufman as accompanist.

Burial was in the Fairview cemetery south of Weatherford, where the brief service was closed with prayer by Rev. Harly King, minister of the Bergthal Mennonite church, Corn.
