A Ripened Sheaf.

Died At the residence cf Mr. J. Middleton on North Cedar street Thursday morning at 3 o'clock, Mrs. Duff, mother of Mrs. J. Middleton. Mrs. Duff was one of the oldest inhabitants of Abilene, having been born March 4, 1817. Her birthplace was in New York and there she spent the earlier years of her life. In maidenhood she removed to Pennsylvania where her home was until 1871 when she came to Kansas. Since then she has made her home with her daughter. In early life she united with the M. E. church of which organization she has for three-score years been a faithful and hard-working member. Every meeting of her beloved church has found her present until within the last six years when she has been a sufferer from rheumatism and hence unable to leave her home. She met death fearlessly and quietly, her soul sustained by the abiding faith that through all the years has uplifted her and lighted her path through valleys of darkness. Triumphant in that faith she enters the hereafter to enjoy the supreme happiness toward which she has so long been looking. The funeral services will be held at the residence at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, Rev. W. H. Zimmerman officiating. (Abilene Reflector, Feb. 7, 1889)
