Robert Kelly "Bob" Hardin was born in Dalton, Georgia, the son of William Oscar and Flora Hardin. He attended Dalton High School and graduated from there in 1954. He attained the rank of Life Scout and was a member of Troop 57 in Dalton under Scoutmaster Wayne Elsberry and was also an Explorer in Post 60. He was a Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow. Kelly also had military service during the Korean War era.
Kelly was the expert on Indian Lore at Camp Sidney Dew where he was on staff during the summers of 1953 to 1957. He taught Indian Lore, Personal Fitness, and Athletics and was very much involved in Order of the Arrow ceremonies, performing Indian dances, and stunts.
Kelly was most skilled in handicraft and art and worked in a great variety of media, including water color and oil painting, beadwork, leathercraft, metalcraft, knife making, and woodcarving. It is very rare to find someone whose skill is almost unsurpassed in all these art media in this day and time.
Kelly joined the Camp Sidney Dew Alumni Association on October 14, 1995 and is recorded as Member #133.
