OBITUARY
Ann Stevenson was born in Ludborrough, England, Dec. 6th, 1833. She was married to Mr. Job Dixon Oct. 4th, 1858, at West Ashby, England, by Rev. W.M. Pierce in the Episcopal Church. Afterward they removed to the United States and settled in Pike Co., Ills. Mrs. Dixon was a helper of great energy and ability, and, though many hindrances beset them, with her untiring assistance these same hindrances became stepping stones to earthly success. In England both husband and wife were members of the Episcopal Church, but since no church of that denomination was near them here, they became members of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Hebron, where Mrs. Dixon untied in Feb. 1886 while Rev. T.M. Dillon was pastor. Of our church she has been a consistent and faithful member and has shown that her trust was firmly placed in Him who alone can save our souls from death.
After having seen a large family grow up about her and most of them happy in homes of their own the summons came to her to prepare for her eternal home. But her preparation was that of patient waiting in the deep trial of suffering. For many months she lingered, often very near eternity's gateway, before death opened the portals of everlasting life. Feeling her time had growing short on earth, she requested that all the family gather at home Christmas day and that a short religious service be held by them after the noon hour. But she grew so rapidly worse on Christmas morning that before quite all the family had arrived the service seh requested was held and she commended her loved ones to a loving Heavenly Father's care till they meet again. And so on the day we keep in memory of the coming of the earth's Redeemer, He came to take her to His own eternal home.
The funeral service was held in the M.E. Church in Perry and the body laid to rest in the Perry cemetery till the breaking of that brighter day than ever sun shone on.
