Mona was the daughter of Captain William Henry Harrison "Harry" Frye and Martha A. "Mattie" Albro.

Mona's father, Harry, was the son of Joseph Frye and Eunice Farrington Knight. Harry was a native of Maine and served in the Civil War. Born in 1840, he entered the service as a corporal with the 11th Maine Infantry, but was promoted to captain by the time he was discharged. Records indicate that he was wounded 3 times in battle.

Shortly after the war, Harry married Georgia "Georgie" A. Day on 03 Oct 1866. That marriage ended in divorce in 1877. Jackson County, Missouri marriage records show that William H. H. Frye married Jennie Jones on 19 Feb 1879. It is uncertain as to whether this is the same man who was Mona's father. On 23 Jul 1884, Harry married 16-year-old Martha A. "Mattie" Albro in Carroll County, Missouri.

Harry and Mattie were the parents of 2 children. Mona was born in 1886 and a younger child, Harrison Morton Frye, arrived 2 years later. He was almost certainly born on 05 Mar 1888.

Harry and Mattie were divorced in the late 1880's or early 1890's. Harry moved to Kansas and worked as a post master.

Mona's mother married Frank Lauderbach in 1899. Mona's younger brother, Harrison, stayed with their mother when the Lauderbachs soon moved to Idaho Falls, Bingham County, Idaho. Frank died in California in 1905.

At the time her mother left for Idaho, Mona stayed in Carroll County with her maternal grandparents, Samuel "Sam" Albro and Susan Barbara "Sue" (nee Wagaman) Albro. Mona remained with them until the time of her marriage.

Harrison joined the military in 1907 and reported his birth date as 05 Mar 1886. However, this conflicts with Mona's birth date of 10 Apr 1886. Speculation suggests that Harrison most likely claimed he was born in 1886 instead of 1888 when he enlisted in the army in order to create the appearance of being old enough to join the service without parental permission.

Mona's mother, Mattie, married Fred Joseph in Orange, California on 20 Aug 1910. They later divorced. Mona's brother, Harrison, married Florence E. Mathews in 1914, but their marriage also ended in divorce in 1917.

Mona was a grade school teacher before her marriage to Floyd Parker Wagaman on 20 May 1918 in Norborne, Carroll County, Missouri. They were the parents of 1 child.

During his early years, Floyd worked in the coal industry with his father, Charles, who was a coal dealer in Carroll County. Floyd worked as a tire adjuster for an auto service company in Jackson County, Missouri during his marriage to Mona.

She died of influenza and pneumonia at Grace Hospital in Kansas City during the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic that swept the country. At the time of her death, she was 32 years, 6 months and 17 days old.

She was survived by her husband, Floyd, and a daughter, Alene, who was not quite 3-weeks-old. She was also survived by her mother, Mattie Joseph; her maternal grandmother, Sue Albro; 1 brother, Lieutenant Harrison Frye, who was serving in France with the United States Army at the time; and her husband's parents, Charles and Fannie Wagaman.

Mona was buried on 29 Oct 1918.

Her husband and daughter lived with Floyd's parents in Carroll County for many years. Floyd never remarried and raised Alene alone as a single parent, with help from his mother, father and other Wagaman relatives.

Mona's brother, Harrison, married Ellen Marie Christesen in the early 1920's. He was the father of 2 sons, William and Roy, and the family lived in California with Mona's mother, Mattie Joseph, and a cousin, Maude Trisler.

Mona's father-in-law died in 1929, but her mother-in-law lived until 1942. Mona's husband, Floyd, passed away in 1950.

Mona and Floyd's daughter, Alene, married James Martin Hart in 1951 and eventually became the mother of 2 sons.
