OSWALD LUXICH DIES OF INJURIES IN AUTO ACCIDENT

Capt. Oswalt S.t Amant Luxich, 48 a guard with Coastal Chemicals in Pascagoula, a former member of the Biloxi Police Force and safety officer, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport where he was admitted Friday following a traffic accident on Highway 90 in front of Fairchild's Restaurant.

The funeral service was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from Riemann's Chapel with the Rev. W. D. Skinner, Christian Missionary Alliance, and the Rev. Harold Ryker, pastor of Beauvoir Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in Southern Memorial Park with Masonic rites at the grave by Magnolia Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Luxich, a lifelong resident of the Coast, was born in Biloxi on Nov. 20, 1911, where he resided until he moved to 404 34th St. in Gulfport about a year ago.

Captain Luxich was a Navy veteran of World War II and of the Korean Conflict.

He had been a member of the Biloxi Police Department for over 10 years and completed a special course at Tulane University in New Orleans in the fundamentals of traffic police service.

Captain Luxich, whose attendance at the school was arranged by the Biloxi Jaycees, was appointed to head the new traffic service in Biloxi in the field of safety education as distinguished from actual law enforcement.

Mr. Luxich was a member of the First Methodist Church of Biloxi, Biloxi Magnolia Masonic Lodge, and a Shriner.

He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Lucille Switzer; one son, Edward Luxich, and a daughter Patricia Luxich.
