Mary grew up in Sparta. On 24 Apr 1912, Mary marries Amos Barton (A.B.) Clouser in St. Louis, City, Missouri. Mary and A.B. made their home in St. Louis.
When her health began to break down, Mary returned home where her health deteoriated over a sixteen month period. Mary died two days short of her 27th birthday.
Funeral services were held at the family home with Rev. J. P. Nesbitt, pastor of the U.P. church, of Sparta, officiating. Interment was in Caledonia.
The obituary lists the following survivors: her sorrowing husband, A.B.; her father H. E. McGurie, her step-mother, two step-sisters, Mrs. Lela Dailey and Mrs. Bertha Dailey, of East St. Louis, and two...at this point the ink smears.
Mary had one brother Harry Thompson McGuire, who lived in Colorado and had several children--Mary's nieces and nephews.
